At the beginning of May, the Radical Moves PR team was on its way to London for TV Connect, the conference and exhibition organised by Informa. Although none of our clients were exhibiting this year, the show was still an invaluable opportunity to catch-up with our media contacts and, of course, stay abreast of what’s hot right in the industry now.
It was an early start for the team on Wednesday, ready to make the long journey from the Wild West of Wales to London. Last year the conference was held at the ExCel, but happily for us it was this year at Olympia, so just a quick hop off the M4.
On day one we stopped by the FEED Mag stand to catch up with the editorial and sales team. We picked up the second issue of the magazine which looks great, both from a design point of view and the content within. Keep an eye out for a couple of our clients in the next few issues of the mag. At Radical Moves PR, we’re always in contact with the press to make sure our clients don’t miss any relevant features. So at TV Connect we also met with TVB Europe, Broadcast and Broadband TV News to discuss partnerships for upcoming events and editorial opportunities.
Wednesday evening the team had a big decision to make: Italian or Thai food? We opted for Thai and we weren’t disappointed! If you’re ever in the Hammersmith area, you simply must pay a visit to Eat-Aroi Thai on North End Rd. We were all in agreement that it was the best Thai food we had ever eaten. One tip, the beginner level of spice is still pretty spicy so take care!
On the final day of the show we had some spare time (a rarity for a tradeshow!) to walk the hall, stopping by a few exhibitors to learn more about what they do. An exhibitor that really stood out was Suitest, the crossplatform test automation tool for Smart TVs, Set-top box apps, Xbox One and a number of other platforms. We also stopped by the Intertrust booth where we picked up the comfiest t-shirts – thanks guys!
Finally, before we began our journey home we met with our client, Open Broadcast Systems, a provider of IP encoding and decoding solutions. The main topic of our meeting was the brand-new OBE website, set to launch in coming weeks. It looks brilliant, so make sure you take a look when it goes live.
We came away from TV Connect with several exciting coals in the fire for our clients, including potential speaking slots and case studies. Now we look ahead to ConnecTech Asia where several of our clients will be exhibiting and announcing exciting news. If you’d like to book a meeting with any of them at the show, please contact us.
