Douglas, Isle of Man, 30th April 2019 – The Satcoms Innovation Group is hosting an open debate session at Satellite 2019 in which participants are invited to discuss the future of the satcom industry. The event will take place at 15:30 on Wednesday, May 8th, Satellite 2019, Washington DC.
SIG directors welcome both members and non-members to discuss the operational impact of the changing satellite ecosystem and how innovation can address the challenges the industry faces. With no presentations, it will be an open forum for satellite operators, solution providers and customers to work together to identify what innovative technology is needed to maintain and improve operational efficiencies.

“There are some really important discussions to be had within the industry at the moment, with questions arising around frequency bands, spectrum sharing, congested space and managing Space Situational Awareness through AI. It is important that industry professionals and customers have an opportunity to discuss their thoughts on the latest challenges being faced by the rapidly evolving sector. This collaborative style of working ensures that the satcom industry remains at the forefront of connectivity technologies. We welcome both members and non-members to attend. A special thanks is in order to all at Kratos for allowing us to host the session from its conference room.”

Martin Coleman

Executive Director and independent consultant, SIG

Alongside the debate session, SIG is partnering with its member, ETL Systems, to host a champagne networking reception. The reception will take place at 16:00 on Monday, 6th May at stand 1533.

This is the first session to take place since the SIG workshop which was held at the Airbus Space and Defence facility in Portsmouth at the end of March. Due to the wider remit, that workshop provided members with an opportunity to discuss a diverse range of subjects including RF interference, Space Traffic Management and LEO mega constellations. Our session at Satellite will continue to address a wide audience and subject matter.

About the Satcoms Innovation Group
With an era of new requirements upon us, such as request fulfilment and incident management, the Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) aims to promote innovation in the satellite communication industry to improve operational efficiency and reduce impact, saving time and money. As an open forum to generate innovative thinking, it enables the industry to come together and discuss current challenges. This helps manufacturers and service providers to deliver innovations and solutions that respond more precisely to those challenges. Those solutions will then be promoted through SIG channels, including events, website, social media, and in discussions with SIG’s industry network.
